Support Job Skill Ups

I like levelling support jobs. It can give you a good taste of a job and gives a bit of variety.

At the moment I am levelling DRK and switching a bit between GS and Scythe. I know Scythe is a bit rubbish at low levels but as I said it's all about fun and trying stuff. Anyway, I happened to mention in LS that my GS was getting well under-cap (Level Sync ftl) and someone said why don't you skill it up on another job first. Should have though of that myself really because I've done it before for magic skill.

Unfortunately the only thing I have higher than DRK to skill GS is WAR at 37, so without a PL that's probably not going to be much use. Hmmm. Then, a brain wave, BLM can use a scythe (albeit REALLY badly)! So I borrowed a really nice scythe off an LS mate and headed out. Man, it was slow. Because BLM only has an E rating you have to fight some pretty serious mobs and it took ages. Anyway, didn't actually managed to cap* scythe yet but I wondered what else I cap.

THF was an obvious choice so I figured I needed to top my sword up a bit (until Viper Bite) and cap dagger. BLM can also wield a dagger so I thought that was a good option. Then, of course, I remembered that NIN can wield a dagger. Better than that, NIN can Dual Wield daggers...and swords. Oh, and also GK.

Dagger was pretty much capped as I have already finished DNC to 37 so I headed off to Crawler's Nest with my THF swords (Flame and Short) and started tonking away. Accuracy wasn't a problem and I soon had to find a new camp so I headed to East Altep Desert and found that Lesser Manticores and Doom Scorpions where the ideal level. Managed to cap my sword out for THF33 so fast I thought I might as well do it to all the way to 114, then switched to Dagger and capped that too.

Next was SAM and I'd already picked a NIN friendly GK from a quest in Rabao so now I'm hammering away at that. Slow work compared to sword and dagger though ><

Still, the pay off of not having to worry about capping skill in exp makes it all worthwhile :)


* by cap I mean get it to 114 skill, which is the cap for A- at 37
