I'm really glad I gave this job a chance because I really enjoy it. It's like playing with a friend the whole time ^^. However, I'm sure there are plenty of people that have dismissed the job entirely due to 2 things:

a) the whole lolPUP thing. Some people take that stuff seriously, you know. Stigma for no reason. Look at DRG - people still say lolDRG but wouldn't you want one at your bird merit?

b) the cost. People say it's expensive. I know this is really server dependent, but I still think it's a total myth. Buying attachments is a one-off cost, like buying a spell, once you have it and learned/attached it, that's it.

Currently on Fenrir, if you bought every BLM spell from the AH it would cost you approximately 2m gil. If you bought every automaton attachment it would cost you 2.1m gil. Admitedly the best 5 attachments will cost you 1.5m gil alone, so for pimp-obsessed players it's probably a bad choice but you do not NEED those 5 attachments. They are awesome to have, though.

So, what does that leave? 600k. That covers all the essentials; people don't expect you to have those top 5 attachments, but everything else you should have. Let's also not forget that these things can be farmed too, just as easily as some of the most expensive BLM scrolls can be quested ;)

I guess I have overlooked the costs of the frames and heads, and you basically have to buy your AF, but it's still ALL one-off costs and they can all be crafted.
