A good day for drops

We did well last Sunday and that's for sure.

We did Ultima (my first) and got 1 body and 2 legs, which is awesome apparently. I didn't win the body lot though.

Then we went to Dynamis-Xarc and got 2 THF hands, 1 BLM hat, 1 PLD body, 1 NIN hands and few other bits. So that was pretty awesome too. We're getting pretty good and farming Xarc now, getting quite a nice route, know what to avoid etc. Hoping to start picking up some other bits of NIN in next city cycle, would quite like the feet.

We had a bumper night in Sky the other day too: got a Despot, a Zip, a MG and 2 diorites, I think. Last night we ended up with just a converted water. Not all bad I guess.

Other than that, not much going down. DM run on Saturday so I maybe get my earring.

I think we might do some Gods in Sky soon, which will mean Kitty Pants and maybe some Zenith Mitts for me :)

Kirin Captivator

Frankly, I was dreading this. We took a week out from Dynamis to get some much needed Kirin pops done in Sky. We do joint runs with another LS for big events and we needed to do two pops each so it was looking like a long, and possibly arduous night.

Previously my LS has kited Kirin to take him down but last time we fought him we wanted to try a zerg and it didn't go too well :S This time though we had a compromise plan. To play it safe (drops before glory), rather than a straight zerg we'd kite Kirin while we dealt with his pets, then zerg him. We planned to do this first, then do two pops kiting him for full fight while 2 hours came back up, and then kite/zerg him again.

It went brilliantly and we won 4/4 with barely a hiccup. Considering it took 5 hours I think everyone really enjoyed it, though it was a bit harsh for the GMT+1 guys who were up until 1am on school day! Dealing with the pets during the kite part was great fun for me personally (BLM get no zerg loves) and I even enjoyed chasing the DD around outside curing during the kites! Managed to stick a couple of stonking nukes on Genbu during Invincible too and died for my efforts!

We also got excellent drops with 3 Osodes, a Shura body, a Heca body and a much needed pair of Crimson Legs: add another PLD to our elite kite team :D

Sky

Awesome night in Sky last night. Headed up knowning the TOD on Despot and started trying to pop him then found out Zip was up so headed there ASAP. On the way we discovered we had competition but the scout pulled him as soon as well zoned in and we put him down like a sick bunny. So, that was cool! Then we Escaped and headed back to Despot. Only been back at Despot for a few mins when the scout confirms that MG was up so we headed there. We're all just moving out from Despot camp when he pops from our last kill. Result. I actually died during the manaburn (got an unlucky x2 TP Move in the chops) but we had no problems. Then we head to MG which we pulled in a bit of rush, and that didn't go so well but we killed her eventually.

So, we're 3/3 in less than an hour so we decided to go pop Genbu. Took a while to get everyone changed etc but needless to say went flawlessly but sadly no awesome drops.

As for my new hat. It was OK. My basis for comparison was 3 other BLM with capped merits and HQ staves , so that's not much of a comparison at all! Did land some nice fat unresisted nukes though. Need to cap my elemental skill and get a Jupiter's staff to make any real judgement.

Sky

Killed MG tonight and attempted to farm water with little success. V annoying. Less fun than Despot due to magic resistant mobs. Boo.

Choo, choo, choo, a train across the floor

Had a fun weekend! Did loads of stuff.

Started Friday night with some MMM with Kanbe. I’m really pleased he’s taken an interest in this because it is good fun and can be a bit of a challenge if you set it up right. Our first run was me NIN60/DNC and him NIN75/DNC. We did his maze first, which was very basic as it was his first ever and it was pretty easy. He got a nice Dragon Rune out of it. Then we did my maze and, clearly, I wasn’t very cautious about setting it up because we ended up with 3 floors of IT (to me mobs), DC to Kanbe. Needless to say we didn’t manage to clear the maze so we missed my marbles. Just too many mobs for our dmg but the first floor being Tauri and the last floor being Morbols didn’t help!

Saturday morning Kanbe and I finished our ToAU missions up to the Black Coffin, so we’re all set to get Salvage access when we can get the peeps together. After that Kanbe made an exp party and we headed to East Ronfaure [S] to fight birds and ladybirds. Sadly the camps were taken and we had to make do but shortly before I left one of the camps became free and the goodness rolled in and I managed to ding NIN61, which was great.

Went a bit down hill from there. Later that evening I got an unflagged invite to a bird party in the Thickets again. Now, even though I am 61, I have only ever been to camps there 3 times. Long story short, I sucked. My Katana was slightly uncapped, my evasion is well under cap (it’s capped for BLM75 but I’ve not exped on NIN outside level sync since I exceeded that cap) and my ninjitsu was under cap. So, I couldn’t hit, I was getting hammered whenever my shadows went down and I couldn’t get them up cos I was getting interrupted. I bowed out to let them get a PLD. Unsurprisingly I have now sworn off NIN exp until I can get my evasion capped.

Of all the NIN skills I never thought keeping evasion up would be a problem but Level Sync has really screwed me. It’s not the easiest thing to skill up outside a party as it really requires you to get hit a bit. I guess I need to solo some EM on NIN/DNC but it’s a not a prospect I relish.

Sunday AM I joined some LS mates in a skill-up party in the tree. Didn’t help with my evasion because the Elvaan DRK75 was trying to break her Nyzul latent (which she did, grats again) and I never got any hate. However, I capped Katana and made more progress on ninjitsu, so that was all good.

Then, later in the PM I got a party on THF in Qufim Island and managed to get just shy of 25. Would have made it had it not been for a frustratingly unnecessary death followed by an idiotic raise into aggro on my part. Noob.

After that Kanbe and me went and did some more MMM. We took a 3rd on my maze this time and we cleared it no problems. I got a new demon rune and have enough marbles to buy “Trial by Velocity”. MMM is really nice for skillups because the most basic Voucher means all the mobs are EM or higher to the lowest member (i.e. me). So, I got a bit more ninjitsu and throwing. Both still way under cap though. Boo.

I took another break while everyone went to Limbus then we headed to Sky for Kirin. We were attempting a zerg rather than the usual kite so as a BLM I had very little to do. It also meant we had 2 hours between pops, and that was pretty sucky. Wasn’t the most fun I have had in Sky but you have to do your part don’t you?

Soooo…

I’ve not been on much for the passed two weeks. Not really been too up for it but last week was quite good.

Had a few achievements that are not really worthy of their own post:

* Capped Katana on NIN –/em shakes his fist {Level Sync} - still want to cap throwing and ninjitsu before I party again. My throwing is woeful and my ninjitsu is embarrasing.
* Hit Sky last night and we killed two Byakko and got two pants, and killed one Suzaku and got some boots, so that was good.
* Got a bit more exp on THF, up to 22 now. It's a nice job but it's lack of popularity is a real turn off. It's def worth having is a farming sub though.

That's about it! I'll make a few posts about specifics.

The Return of Keoko

It wasn't the best weekend tbh. Had some real highs and lows.

Highest was beating the Lebros Cavern Tier 2 Assault. If you don't know it, it's the one where you have to feed soldiers while avoiding T(H) Crawlers. It's not an easy one at all and everyone did a really good job. It was a real team effort. It's also one that people never do so it's great to be 5/25 on my rank up with 4, more popular assaults to go.

Probably second best was beating Suzaku and Seiryu in Sky last night. We got the hands for Kanbe so that was nice. I was a party leader again and I thought I did a pretty good job. It's not rocket science, I know, but it's not something you want to make a mess of. As for my actual contribution to battles, I managed to chuck in a few nicely timed Stuns but my damage was pretty lame.

Third, my brother returned from the WoW wilderness, at least for now. He came back with the intention of starting a new char but it took less than a day for him to scrap that idea! He's refused to re-gear his RDM though; it's got too much negative baggage. Good for him I say. He's doing BLU now and we're hoping to static CoP from 9-12AM on Saturday's. I'd really like to be able to Limbus with everyone else.

Four, I have been playing with DRG and THF a bit. I want to get THF to 37 so I can have an ungimped flee/farming sub for NIN. I also want to see how THF performs as a PUP sub. Apparently you can do a nice self skillchain with Sneak Attack + Dragon Kick -> Magic Mortar. DRG I want to get to 18 for a sub-sub-job; bound to do SAM to 37 one day. SAM probably my top choice for a DD one day too.

Despot-ty

Spent 2 hours in Sky last night trying to get Despot to pop. Nothing else was up so we surmised someone had recently cleaned up. As we reached the two hour mark more people began to appear to camp him which confirmed our suspicions. I was about to quit and go to bed when he popped for another LS. Bit gutting that.

You make kitty scared

First God run last night in Sky. We popped two Kitties and one Turtle and we got two lots of pants and all the abjurations that we wanted. So, that was good!

Personally I got the abjuration for Zenith Head. Since I have mixed feeling about latent effects I'm not sure I'll ever convert it but at least I have it if I decide I want it.

Mummy!

Sooooo...Sky farming last night. We went looking for Mother Globe. We found it and it was being trioed by 3 BLM. They weren't doing too well so a discussion was had about whether we should try and grab it if it went unclaimed. I don't think we really took a decision but I knew that if someone else acted I was going to back them up. However, when it did go unclaimed, no-one did anything. Except me. I stuck a lovely blind on it. We didn't get claim though.

When the wheels eventually came off the trio attempt they MPKed some of us for interfering. Prolly fair enough.

I felt slightly guilty but as someone pointed out "the worst that can happen is you won't make any friends".

Once the trio HPed we did get a claim, which went slightly sour due to an unfortunate link but our second attempt was pretty much text book.

I quite enjoy Sky so far, which is good considering we haven't even popped any gods yet!

Sky Larks

We managed to get Despot to pop last night, so that was pretty cool. We'd been there for two hours though so it was nice to get a result. I've never fought him before though, and I came close to messing it up, although I dunno if anyone noticed. Because all I was doing was the occasional stun I stopped paying attention to my MP so when Despot finally popped I was very low. As a result I popped my two hour a bit earlier than I probably should have (i.e. before I was told too) and it almost wore off while we were waiting to re-gravity him.

In the end though Gravity came up and I blew his pants off. Gravity was just a precaution anyway, he was pretty easily one-shottable. Annoyingly though I my stoneskin macro didn't seem to be playing ball at all...was very annoying.

We're walking in the air

Made my first trip to Sky Sunday. The LS was just starting a new circuit as I reached the Hall of the Gods so they waited for me. Sadly I had a bunch of chatty cutscenes to get through so they got a bit impatient and then Vent crashed the second I zoned into Sky, so that kind of marred my initial experience. I also get massive vertigo, which extended to the floor going in. I didn't like that much.

I was massively late so i didn't really get to see much action. It was a farming run though anyway. I guess this Sunday will be the hot potato dunno how the Vent problem is being address though.

Sky access, I haz it

With help from Kanbe I got my Sky access on Saturday, which is awesome. Having done it I now understand why people were so surprised I didn't have it already! We ended up just doing it with the 3 of us as it didn't seem like anyone in Europa was interested. Took a good few hours but we walked the Delkfutt Tower fight, Kanbe basically duoed with NIN/DNC and BRD/WHM.

ZM Missions for Sky this weekend

Kanbe and I will be trying to get Sky access on Saturday and I know some of Europa will be doing likewise. Hopefully we can get a whole bunch of people along.
